The July issue of Erdington Local is out now.
Bringing the Local Community Together
A special community event hosted at McDonald’s in Kingstanding on July 12th brought local people together for support, connection, and shared learning. Organised by Witton Lodge Community Association, Kingstanding Police, and the McDonald’s New Oscott team, the day featured a free planting workshop and the expert team offering practical advice on saving energy and accessing benefits.
Residents shared how important it is to come together as a community and support one another. Many enjoyed meeting new people, learning new skills, and discovering local services.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, we look forward to sharing details of future events with our community.
Track Friday is Back!
Perry Common came alive during the latest Track Friday musical event, showcasing some of the area’s most talented young performers at Perry Common Community Hall. Organised by Witton Lodge’s Community Engagement Officer Dellano Lewis, the evening featured singers, dancers, rappers, and poets, all providing creative entertainment for a packed audience.
The event, hosted by Junelle Jae with music from DJ Gaz H, offered local young people a platform to connect with community services while enjoying a vibrant showcase of homegrown talent. Performers and hosts alike praised the sense of community and the opportunity to celebrate local creativity. “What an amazing event, full of so much talent,” said Junelle. Performer Tee Leonie added: “Track Friday has been phenomenal… it’s beautiful seeing the community come together.”

Spring into Summer 2025 – Summer, Smiles and Memories
Spring was truly in the air as hundreds of smiling residents gathered at The Ring in Perry Common for our lively Spring into Summer festival.
Families enjoyed a day packed with fun, kids bounced on castles, slid down inflatables, and played football, while adults explored stalls brimming with handmade arts, crafts, jewellery, clothing, and tasty treats from local stallholders.
One happy resident shared, “Spring into Summer has been really fun, there’s loads for the children to do and lots of families here. The kids have really enjoyed going around all the different stalls.” With such a warm, community feel, many said they’d definitely return next year, and even bring their families along for more festive fun!
Bulls in the City – Summer Art Trail
This summer, Birmingham Hospice is hosting the interactive Bulls in the City arts trail, featuring 40 large bull and 88 calf sculptures designed by local artists and displayed at various city locations. Witton Lodge is proud to sponsor two sculptures: our bull, Work Hard Play Hard who is currently residing on Boldmere Road outside the Methodist Church and our cool calf, Rebull who has galloped over to Millennium Point.
The free trail, running until September, aims to bring people together through public art. For extra fun, a Bulls in The City app lets visitors scan QR codes at sculptures to unlock mystery free gifts, making the experience even more exciting for everyone!
