Job Opportunities

 

We are currently looking for a Communications Officer on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an exciting time to join the WLCA team and lead the organisation in the delivery of a holistic communications plan to raise  awareness of our work and engage the local community and other stakeholders.

You will have experience in a communications role and be capable of supporting the organisation in producing a communications strategy and in its execution. Skills including media handling, PR and content creation for a wide range of media are essential.

You will have responsibility for managing the WLCA website, social media accounts, community newsletter and public relations. You will also play an important role in supporting the wider team
to market and promote projects and hold events to engage the local community.

If you love working with people in a neighbourhood setting then this could be your ideal role.

Volunteer With Us

Do you want to be part of an exhilarating experience?  Getting involved in new projects, learning new skills and helping your local community at the same time?  Whether you are looking to boost your skills or simply want to get out of the house and meet new people, then we have a volunteering opportunity that suits you.

You could be working in our busy office here at Perry Common Community Hall;  helping our residents at our Sycamore Court Extra Care Scheme; helping to organise one of our many community events; assisting the Homes and Properties team; working on our busy reception desk; computer work; distributing our publicity – or anything else you can think of.

We are a friendly and welcoming team and genuinely appreciate the help of our volunteers.  What’s more, all your volunteering will directly benefit the local community here in Perry Common and far beyond.

Community Researchers

We are looking to recruit individuals who are familiar with neighbourhoods in Erdington District and local to Perry Common and Wyrley Birch. Community Researchers will work with WLCA on finding out about local people’s concerns, issues and aspirations and to help signpost people to relevant support, advice and information services.  Please see the Role Description for more details.

Library Volunteer

In this role we are looking to recruit a group of enthusiastic volunteers to work alongside our Libraries Delivery Team to support and run activities at Perry Common and Kingstanding Libraries. This is a fantastic opportunity for personal development as volunteers taking on this role will engage with and support the local community in lots of different ways, as detailed below

We are looking to recruit volunteers who are interested in providing 1:1 support in a number of settings. WLCA Peer Mentors/Befrienders will provide regular 1:1 support to an individual with whom they have been matched.  Please see the Role Description for more details.
