The August issue of Erdington Local is out now!

Erdington Enterprise Hub Launch Event

This month, we shine a spotlight on the exciting transformation of the former Erdington Baths into a vibrant Enterprise Hub. The £4m project kicked off with a launch event that brought together over 60 guests, including Cllr John Cotton, Leader of Birmingham City Council, and Richard Parker, Mayor of West Midlands. This historic building is set to become an entrepreneurial hotspot, offering community workspaces and welcoming residents from across Erdington.

The launch event provided a unique opportunity for Erdington residents to meet the Witton Lodge team, view the current state of the baths, provide valuable feedback, and share nostalgic memories of the building’s past as a swimming baths.

We will be holding regular community events and creating forums for residents to share their thoughts throughout this project. To stay informed about the development and future events, simply scan the QR code in the article below or email enquiries@wittonlodge.org.uk

Ladders of Opportunity Celebration

We’re thrilled to announce the first successful recipients of the Ladders of Opportunity bursary programme. In July, we awarded £1,000 each to three young people from the Erdington Constituency to support their career aspirations. This programme, funded in honour of Erdington MP Jack Dromey and Cllr Penny Holbrook, was attended by family of the recipients and the family and friends of both Jack and Penny.

Congratulations to the recipients, Sylvia, Bryan, and Salah!

Applications are open until 30th September for the second round of Ladders of Opportunity funding. If you’re between 18-25, live in the Erdington Constituency, and have a household income below £25,000 you may be eligible for the bursary, click here to learn more!

Shared Prosperity Fund Small Grants Programme

We also shared information about the Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) Small Grants Programme, a fantastic opportunity which groups and organisations throughout Erdington could apply for throughout August. We will be sharing updates on the successful applications soon!
