The new July/August edition of the Erdington Local is now available and features all the latest news and updates from Witton Lodge Community Association.

Highlights this month include a review of our latest Jobs Fair, delivered at St Barnabas Church in Erdington, which saw more than 100 local job seekers engage with employers and training providers.

There’s also a request to community groups across Erdington and Sutton Coldfield to host their own Break the Habit stop smoking information session, and help us to help smokers quit.

JOBS FAIR A RESOUNDING SUCCESS

St Barnabas Church in Erdington was transformed into a thriving employment and training hotspot as Witton Lodge Community Association (WLCA) hosted its annual Jobs Fair at the High Street venue.

The event brought together 22 of the region’s employers who engaged directly with more than 100 local jobseekers.

The venue was a hotbed of networking as visitors were encouraged to apply directly for live vacancies in the room. The jobs on offer included opportunities in healthcare, construction, administration, hospitality and warehousing.

CAN YOU HELP US HELP SMOKERS BREAK THE HABIT?

Are you a local community centre, faith group or community hub that delivers regular engagement with North Birmingham residents? If so, Witton Lodge Community Association would like your help.

Since it launched last September, our smoking cessation project, Break the Habit, has already supported over 300 local smokers and helped dozens to successfully quit.

We want to bring this vital support directly into the heart of our communities so are looking for welcoming local venues to host our community engagement project information sessions.
