WLCA Volunteer Theresa – Honoured with Benjamin Zephaniah Localism Award
We’re incredibly proud to celebrate one of our very own volunteers, Theresa Senior, whose outstanding contribution to the Perry Common community has been recognised through The Aston Villa Foundation with a Benjamin Zephaniah Localism Award.
This special recognition reflects exactly what we see every day – Theresa’s exceptional dedication, generosity, and unwavering commitment to supporting others.
Since joining Witton Lodge Community Association as a volunteer in 2017, Theresa has been a constant source of positivity and support across our community. Over the past nine years, she has given her time selflessly in a wide range of roles. From greeting visitors at Perry Common Library to supporting activities at Perry Common Community Hall and bringing people together through vibrant, inclusive coffee mornings, Theresa’s warmth can be felt across all of our community hubs.
She is also a valued part of the team at Witton Lakes Eco Hub, where her enthusiasm and energy help create a welcoming space for residents to connect with nature and each other.
What truly sets Theresa apart is not just what she does, but how she does it. Week after week, she shows up with kindness, compassion, and a genuine desire to help. Her reliability is one of her greatest strengths – she can always be counted on to lend a hand, follow through, and support others with care and consistency.
The Benjamin Zephaniah Localism Award celebrates individuals who embody community spirit, activism, and local pride and Theresa lives and breathes these values. She brings people together, lifts others up, and plays a vital role in making Perry Common a stronger, kinder, and more connected place.
She is deeply respected and appreciated by staff, volunteers, and residents alike – not just as a volunteer, but as an inspiring example of the difference one person can make.
We are absolutely delighted to see Theresa recognised in this way. This award is a true reflection of her impact and the countless lives she has touched over the years.
Congratulations, Theresa – this is so richly deserved, and we are all incredibly proud of you.
