Supporting Job Seekers into Work
Witton Lodge Community Association has extended its provision for helping the region’s job seekers and adult learners with new support sessions at Erdington job-centre.
Having delivered outstanding results for the collaborative Youth Promise Plus programme, we were approached by Birmingham Adult Education who have now contracted us to assist job seekers in the north of the city.
Following a meeting with Job Centre Plus officials, to agree on aims and objectives, Youth Employment Ambassador at Witton Lodge CA, Dellano Lewis, took charge of the first session last week.
“The focus is on delivering employment support, working with the clients to produce and develop CVs and search and apply for jobs using the internet and websites.
“We will also be supporting clients with interview techniques while a colleague from our health and wellbeing team will be on hand throughout the sessions to discuss any personal health needs that people may have.”
Nine clients attended the launch session with the majority found to be in need of intensive support.
“We did engage productively with the group as a whole and individuals on a one-to-one basis,” added Dellano.
The employment support sessions will be delivered at Erdington job-centre every Tuesday from 2-4pm. For more information call the Erdington Works team at Witton Lodge Community Association on 0121 382 1930.
