A Caketastic Coffee Morning

A cake-tastic morning over at St Martin’s Church Centre. Local resident Eileen has worked non-stop organising a fantastic Coffee Morning for John Taylor Hospice – who deliver palliative care from their hospice in Grange Road, Erdington.

If you went into the event hungry, you certainly didn’t leave that way! Eileen has personally made the sandwiches; with a selection of ham, tuna and cheese – and of course, the crusts were cut off. As Eileen says, “I always make the sandwiches personally. I’ve been up since 4am making these.”

There was plenty of Tea and Coffee to enjoy and it would not be a coffee morning without a great selection of cakes. Eileen’s granddaughter Jenna had baked a fantastic selection of cupcakes with Vanilla, Lemon, Coffee and Chocolate all with flavoured icing. They were delicious! And two Lemon Drizzle Cakes had been lovingly made to tempt your taste-buds too.

If that was not enough, there were raffles (and everyone who entered won a prize), a healthy fruit hamper and a big food hamper to be won.

It was a great atmosphere; the cakes were superb and all the money raised goes to John Taylor Hospice in Erdington.  Eileen had lots of help on the day from family and friends, but says “It’s been great to see so many people enjoying the day. Thank You to everyone who has helped at the event and to everyone who has donated.”

Great work Eileen and we will announce the total money raised as soon as we know.
