There really is no stopping Slimming World and their fundraising this year. Our generous group here in Perry Common have raised a whopping £753 for local homeless people.

The money has been collected at a big fundraising party held at New Oscott Social Club – and has been collected for local charity ‘Have A Hart’.

Shirley Hart, founder of Have A Hart says: “Our charity was set-up 2 years ago. We walk around the city every evening handing out food, toiletries, sleeping bags and other useful items to homeless people. We feed about 70-100 people every week – and rely on donations to do this. What Slimming World have done is amazing and I can’t thank everyone enough.”
Well done again Slimming World!

It’s the latest fundraising project by the generous group.  Back in January the generous group collected 2 car-fulls of goodies for the homeless shelter at Elim Community Church on Warren Road.

Then to brighten up a wet March morning, the enthusiastic group raised an impressive £207.60 for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.  Slimming World gave generously towards a raffle; with a stunning artwork as the prize.  This was a beautiful tiger, made entirely of coloured stones by local artist Chris Beresford.

Chris lost his leg in a motorcycle accident in 1998 and it was Midlands Air Ambulance Charity who came to his rescue. The talented artist now creates these stunning artworks to raise money for the charity.

This latest fundraising effort will go a long way to helf vulnerable people in our city.  A big congratulations and keep up the good work.

Slimming World meet at Perry Common Community Hall every Tuesday (7pm), Thursday (5pm and 7pm) and Friday (10am)
