At Witton Lodge Community Association, we’re passionate about giving young people opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, and see community work in action. Recently, we were delighted to welcome three talented Year 10 students for a week of work experience across our community hubs.

Molly Gains Hands-on Experience in Community Connection at Erdington Health and Wellbeing Hub

Molly spent her week with the team at Erdington Health and Wellbeing Hub, where she got involved in a range of tasks to support our work with local residents. She enjoyed working alongside Tracy, our Welcome Officer, gaining insight into how we engage with visitors and coordinate community health activities. Molly’s enthusiasm and curiosity made her a great addition to the team.

Jamie Explores Green Initiatives and Community Action  at Witton Lakes Eco Hub

At Witton Lakes Eco Hub, Jamie experienced the day-to-day life of a busy community space focused on sustainability and green living. Whether assisting with activities, supporting the team, or learning about our environmental projects, Jamie showed a keen interest in how community action can protect and improve our local environment.

Olive Supports Community Enagement at Perry Common Community Hall

Olive joined the team at Perry Common Community Hall, where she supported the communications team and worked alongside Welcome Officer Julie to help manage the busy reception area. From greeting visitors to lending a hand with community communications, Olive’s professionalism and friendly approach made her a valued member of the team throughout the week.

Each of our student visitors made a real impression, and we were thrilled to see their confidence grow as the week progressed. Providing meaningful work experience placements is one of the ways we invest in young people – nurturing local talent and inspiring future community leaders.

We’d like to thank Molly, Jamie, and Olive for their hard work and look forward to following their progress into their chosen careers! We wish them all the best for the future and hope their week with us showed just how rewarding community work can be.
