Active August is back at the Witton Lakes Eco Hub and this year promises to be bigger, brighter and more fun than ever before! With the school summer holidays looming, it’s the perfect way to keep the kids entertained without breaking the bank.

From August 3rd to 27th, the Hub will be hosting family friendly activities for people of all ages to enjoy. Running Monday to Friday each week, the month-long celebration will have something for everyone, from toddlers to teenagers, uninhibited Uncles to gallant grandmas.

Activities galore

We will be teaming up with an incredible lineup of local community partners and organisations to bring you a wide variety of activities. Mums and Dads, why not enjoy the beautiful lakeside views with a nice refreshing drink while the kids dive head first  into:

  • Creative Arts & Crafts: Let the kids unleash their inner artists with hands-on, nature-inspired workshops.
  • Outdoor Adventures: Park games, family sports day (delivered in partnership with Vision for All) and nature trails around the lakes to get everyone moving.
  • Green-Fingered Fun: Fun gardening sessions where people of all generations can learn how to grow fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables.
Make memories

Shane Wedderburn, Flourishing Communities Services Manager at Witton Lodge Community Association, said: “The Summer holidays can often feel like a long and winding road which is why we have created Active August to make it easy for people to stay busy, stay active, learn new skills and make lasting memories together as a family.

“Best of all, all the activities are hosted at our magnificent Eco Hub, making it a safe, welcoming and beautiful space to enjoy.

“Everyone is invited. You don’t need to be a gardening expert or an artist or a cook, just bring your energy and your enthusiasm. We can’t wait to see you there.”

The Active August 2026 programme also includes an iNaturalist park walk, and a special ‘Looking After Our Planet’ recycling session delivered in partnership with Birmingham City Council.
There will also be a family food event with Bangers & Mash Up, bringing families together through food, learning and community connection.
