Excitement rampaged through Birmingham this summer thanks to the Bulls in the City arts trail which captured the hearts and imagination of thousands of residents.

The spectacular trail of 40 hand-sculpted, beautifully decorated bulls spent three months grazing on city high streets and street corners as a celebration of creativity and to spark connection and community engagement.

Organised by Wild in Art and supported by dozens of sponsors, including Witton Lodge Community Association, the project was delivered to raise money for Birmingham Hospice.

Give a bull a home

With the trail having ended last month, attention now turns to the highly anticipated charity auction which will find new homes for the magnificent beasts.

On Thursday 16th October each bull will go under the hammer to raise more vital funds for Birmingham Hospice, ensuring the trail leaves not only memories but also a lasting impact for families across the city who depend on the Hospice’s care and support.

Communications and Community Engagement Manger at Witton Lodge, Jo Townsend, said the Perry Common based organisation is determined to make sure the legacy of the Bulls Trail continues. “We are so happy that all of the amazing bulls will be going to good homes across the region for communites to enjoy for many years to come.”

“The story of the Bulls in the City arts trail is simple but essential to the fabric of our communities and what we represent at Witton Lodge – people, place and purpose. “We were very proud to sponsor the project which demonstrated how public art can really inspire collective pride in local communities.”

The auction is open to anyone. So if you would like to offer a new home to one of the beautifully sculptured fibre-glass bulls, and raise money for Birmingham Hospice, you can buy a ticket to the auction or register for online bidding at: https://bullsinthecity.co.uk/auction/
