Pedal Power: Accessible Bikes Now Available at Witton Lakes Eco Hub
We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of three new adaptive trikes at Witton Lakes Eco Hub! These fantastic additions, funded by the Active Travel Community Grant, are designed to welcome users of all ages and abilities to join our cycling adventures, with one of the trikes even boasting electric assistance.
These new trikes complement our balance bikes, children’s and adult bikes which are available for visitors to use at Witton Lakes Eco Hub. This bustling community hub is nestled within the beautiful surroundings of Witton Lakes and has a great range of bikes available for anyone eager to embrace the great outdoors, get fit, or simply enjoy a leisurely ride around the park!
BENEFITS
The new three-wheeled design provides enhanced stability and support, making them an excellent low-impact exercise option. The seated position ensures that weight is evenly distributed, minimizing stress on knees and hips—perfect for those who might find traditional cycling a bit daunting.
Thanks to electric assistance, cycling is now more accessible than ever! This feature allows those who thought they’d left biking behind—or those who never had the chance—to join in on the fun. You can use the pedal assist throughout your ride or whenever you need a breather, making it easier to enjoy the journey at your own pace. Trikes provide an accessible alternative for individuals who might not usually consider cycling. They offer the freedom to explore while maintaining independence with the added support they provide. Cycling is not just a great hobby; it’s also environmentally friendly and beneficial for mental health, cognitive function, balance, and weight management.
