Fuel Poverty Awareness Day
Thursday 30 November 2023 is National Energy Action’s Fuel Poverty Awareness Day #fuelpovertyawarenessday and Witton Lodge Community Association is proud to support this important initiative.
It’s been two years since the energy crisis first began and from 1 October 2023 a staggering 6.3 million households are in fuel poverty across the UK. With Erdington identified as a fuel poverty hotspot, WLCA is on a mission to help change this statistic for the better.
Following the lack of support for households this winter in the Autumn Statement, and the announcement of nearly a £100 increase in the typical energy bill by Ofgem, support for our communities has never been needed more, and we are pleased to deliver essential energy services through our partnership with Birmingham Community Action Network and BrumEnergy.
We have invested in energy resources for our community with the appointment of our Energy Advisor Tim O’Regan, who has been supporting people with energy advice and help at our Erdington Wellbeing Hub. Due to the ongoing demand for this service we are continuing our commitment to help those most vulnerable during this cost of living crisis by expanding our energy support team in the near future with the appointment of a new advisor.
But, we all know that fuel poverty awareness is needed every day so please watch Tim’s video to find out more about his role as an Energy Advisor and the essential support he is providing to our local community in North Birmingham.
