Witton Lodge Community Association has won praise as one of Greater Birmingham’s 21 Business Heroes for the work it has been delivering during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The British Chambers of Commerce has praised the Perry Common based operation for the positive impact of its service delivery supporting the elderly and vulnerable, the unemployed and the homeless.

Proud Chief Officer at Witton Lodge, Afzal Hussain, said staff had ‘gone the extra mile’ during the pandemic and those efforts are continuing as the second national lockdown begins.

“People are at the heart of everything we do and it is important for Witton Lodge that those within our community receive the help and support they need on a daily basis,” he said.

“This has become even more important during the Coronavirus pandemic and our staff have excelled in their efforts to ensure support, care and comfort has been provided where it has been needed most.”

Recognition of Witton Lodge comes as part of a nationwide campaign, launched by the Chamber, to recognise the incredible work that UK businesses are doing amidst the pandemic.

Nominated as part of the campaign, the Association, founded in 1994,  receives the UK Business Heroes stamp, signifying that they have gone the extra mile to support their local community during the Covid outbreak.

Paul Faulkner, chief executive of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “It is without question that this year has been a challenging one for a whole host of businesses, however we have witnessed time after time that many organisations have stepped up in the face of adversity.

“For those organisations which have been nominated as business heroes, we would like to our extend congratulations. Their efforts have positively impacted their communities, and are shining examples of exemplary organisations which make up the Greater Birmingham Chambers.”
