The local community is uniting to restore order and clear fly-tipping which is blighting one of Perry Common’s most popular open spaces.

A Spring-clean litter-pick, organised by Witton Lodge Community Association, will rid the site of rubbish which has been dumped there over the past few months.

Co-ordinated by Linda Hines MBE, Resident Chair of the Association, the event has rallied men, women and children from across Perry Common.

Among those taking part will be staff and children from St Margaret Mary’s School, Story Wood School, Wilson Stuart School and North Birmingham Academy. They will be assisted by an army of volunteers representing a range of local businesses and organisations.

“People never fail to amaze me, rallying together to improve their neighbourhood,” said Linda.

The clean-up operation takes place from 9.30-11.30am and 1-3pm on Friday, March 29. Anyone who would like to support the event is asked to meet on the car park next to St Margaret Mary’s School (B23 7AB) 15-minutes before start times. All cleaning equipment will be provided.
