A December to Remember: 496 Reasons to Smile
Our December to Remember initiative proved once again there is something truly magical about the way our community comes together to support people in need.
Even in these challenging times, the generosity of Erdington residents is alive and well with almost 500 gifts donated to the annual festive appeal.
The initiative was established by Witton Lodge Community Association to ensure that local families who are struggling financially can still experience the magic and joy of Christmas.
The Impact of Your Kindness
The incredible support from our local residents, partners, staff and volunteers meant we exceeded all expectations. Here is a look at the difference your donations and support made to young children across our community:
-
496 Christmas gifts
-
124 children aged 16 under received festive surprises
-
69 local families were supported
-
Six local schools helped to distribute the gifts.
Bringing Joy Home
Communications and Community Engagement Manager at Witton Lodge Community Association, Jo Townsend, paid tribute to the efforts made in support of December to Remember.
“Since we launched this appeal, we have seen first hand the difference a donated gift can make to families and children,” she said.
“It’s much more than just unwrapping a toy or clothing, it’s the joy parents’ feel at seeing the excitement of their child experiencing the magic of Christmas. Seeing our team of volunteers, staff and residents wrap and deliver these gifts was a timely reminder of what community actually means.
Heartfelt Thank You
“To everyone who donated a gift, spent hours wrapping them or helped with the distribution and delivery, thank you. Together, we have all made this an amazing December to remember.”
