Erdington’s Let’s Get Together event: Building Stronger Community Connections!
On 10th April 2025, the Erdington Neighbourhood Network Scheme (ENNS) brought the community together for its vibrant and well-attended Let’s Get Together event at St Barnabas Church, right in the heart of the Erdington High Street.
The annual, free community event brings residents from across the Erdington Constituency together to connect with local groups, professionals, and services which are dedicated to supporting independent living and wellbeing.
Throughout the day, attendees had the chance to connect with teams from ENNS-funded groups, Occupational Therapists, Adult Social Care, and Social Prescribers. Representatives from Erdington Court Bowls, Digital NNS, Birmingham Community Matters, Eco Grow Court Lane, Erdington Lunar Society, Witton Lodge, and many more were on hand to offer expert advice, showcase their activities, and highlight community initiatives aimed at reducing isolation, boosting health, and enhancing quality of life. The event provided an ideal gateway for anyone interested in joining new groups or seeking practical guidance to navigate local services with confidence.
In addition to fantastic networking opportunities, the Purposeful Active Living team delivered an engaging and accessible seated workout demonstration, encouraging attendees to actively participate and experience firsthand the inclusive and energising services they offer.
The Erdington Neighbourhood Network Scheme continues its vital work in supporting older adults and younger adults with disabilities by building strong connections through partnerships with voluntary groups and social enterprises.
The team were on-hand throughout the day, offering guidance on tailored support for community groups, including grants of up to £10,000 for local projects that make a real difference.
Fauzia Begum, ENNS coordinator, reflected on the impactful event:
“The Let’s Get Together event was a fantastic success, bringing over 100 residents together to connect with local groups and organisations. It was a true celebration of community spirit and a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together to support one another and build stronger neighbourhoods.”
