Jobs Fair Promotes Employment Opportunities

For the fourth time in as many months Witton Lodge Community Association threw open its doors to underline its commitment to supporting local job seekers into work.

Almost 100 people ventured to Perry Common Community Hall to take part in a Jobs Fair promoting opportunities in warehousing and manufacturing.

Visitors got to speak directly with industry employers and training providers while the Witton Lodge’ Employment and Skills team were also on hand to help people with registrations and applications.

The event follows the success of previous Jobs Fairs which showcased employment vacancies in retail, health and administration.

Michael Harrop, Employability Projects Manager for Witton Lodge, said: “It was a brilliant day full energy, buzz and a fantastic atmosphere.

“These events are key in supporting local employers fill vacancies as well as giving local residents much needed job opportunities and the platform to speak to employers directly.

“A big thank you to everyone who attended and supported this jobs fair and and provided positive feedback. We are looking forward to delivering more of these events in the future.”

Employers and training providers who delivered employment engagement opportunities at the Jobs Fair included B2W, AM2PM, Pertemps, Aldi, Ocadao and The Centre for Ageing Better.

Amy Hunt of Pertemps, said: “On arriving at the event we really didn’t know what to expect. But it was a busy event , with so many people and we spoke to so many potential candidates. It was a great event to be a part of.”

Comments left by candidates at the end of the event included: “It was absolutely brilliant. The event was very engaging,” another remarked: “I really want to get a job and this event has been great for meeting people and employers for potential work,” and finally, one satisfied visitor commented, “It was a well structured event with lots of information. Excellent.
