 /

We have launched new employability skills training every Monday at our new Erdington Wellbeing Hub.

Sessions takes place from 10am-12.30pm and 1-4pm.

Topics covered include:

CV Building

Did you know that the average time an employer spends looking at each CV is around five to seven seconds, and that each position receives up to 300 applications? So you need a CV that seriously sells your skills.

Interview Preparation

  • Creating a positive first impression
  • Making your research count
  • Anticipating key questions
  • Using your voice
  • Getting to grips with interview questions

Confidence Building

You know you want to say something but just can’t. We can help you develop your confidence and make a great first impression. We can’t promise a new job but we can help you to get a competitive edge. It’s important to know how to impress and think on your feet. Walk confidently into your next interview.

Equality and Diversity

Equality and diversity refers to the fair treatment and respect of all individuals, no matter their personal circumstances. An open and inclusive workplace has many benefits to the organisation and to individuals, such as an increase in morale, better staff retention and improved company reputation. When employees are treated fairly and with respect, this is reflected in their work.

Teamworking at work

Learners on the course will learn what teamwork is, and the different types of team and group personalities. It will equip learners with the tools to build effective relationships, highlight positive and negative characteristics and what motivates a team.

Communication at work

Aims to increase your understanding of communication skills and to help you to consider how your communication could be perceived by others. You’ll cover areas such as verbal and non-verbal communication, written communication and using your communication skills in challenging and diverse situations.

Business Enterprise

Refers to a person spotting a business opportunity and setting up a business. Business ideas come about for several reasons. Often this is because a person may feel that they or others have a need that is not being met, they want to make a social difference, or they want to make money.

Job Applications

  • Analysing job adverts and course descriptions
  • Researching the organisation
  • Promoting yourself through positive writing
  • Dealing with gaps in your application

It’s two topics per session on a four-week cycle.
