With restrictions on Covid-19 having been lifted recently, local residents joined staff and volunteers from Witton Lodge Community Association for a well-deserved day out by the seaside.

The trip to Weston-super-Mare was co-ordinated by the Aston Villa Foundation for older people who don’t have the resources to go on holiday or even leave their local community.

Our very own Ruby Begum accompanied the 40-strong group of over-55s to the coast and reported a jolly day was enjoyed by all.

“This year, more than any other year, it has been very isolating for older people,” she said.

“It was a memorable and joyful day out for everyone who came along, both staff and clients really made the most of it.

“We will certainly work with partners to put on more events like this in the future.”

A massive thank you goes to Jennifer Tullet and her team at the Aston Villa Foundation for co-ordinating the trip.
