Witton Lodge Community Interest Company (Cic)
Witton Lodge Community Interest Company (WLCIC) was established in 2017 as a subsidiary of Witton Lodge Community Association toprogress housing and community asset development aspirations.
Witton Lodge Community Association is a charity with a long and proud track record of housing and capital asset development andmanagement across North Birmingham. WLCIC pursues a dedicated housing agenda, namely, to provide affordable and social housing which meets the needs of the local community.
There are currently over 12,000 applicants Birmingham City Council’s housing waiting list – the local authority area ithin which we deliver our services. In addition there are more 3,000 empty properties in the city.
WLCIC targets such empty properties to bring them back into use while working with the City Council and other stakeholders to exploreopportunities for new build development which can provide affordable housing solutions.
The objectives of Witton Lodge CIC are:
- To increase the amount of accommodation for people in the area
- To help the community to influence the landscape of the local environment
- To tackle the root causes of poverty in a very deprived neighbourhood of Birmingham
- To provide community support services and offer holistic assistance
The Witton Lodge CIC Board currently has six members with a vast range of skills and experiences which will ensure the objectives are met.
