Work & Wellbeing Fair Brings Opportunities and Support to Erdington

Our Work & Wellbeing Fair brought together employment opportunities, health and wellbeing support, and community connections for Erdington residents.

On Friday 16 October, Six Ways Baptist Church in Erdington welcomed our Work & Wellbeing Fair, bringing together opportunities to help local people explore their next steps, discover support and connect with their community.

Organised by Witton Lodge Community Association (WLCA), the free event brought work and wellbeing together, recognising that feeling supported, building confidence and having access to the right opportunities can all play an important role in helping people thrive.

Our Work & Wellbeing Fair aimed to make those first steps towards living better lives  easier by bringing local employers, support services and community groups together in one welcoming space.

Visitors had the opportunity to find out more about employment, skills and training, explore health and wellbeing support, and discover local activities and groups. By bringing these opportunities together, the fair helped highlight the range of support available to residents and the different pathways people can take towards a healthier, happier and more fulfilling future.

A key part of the fair was the opportunity to connect residents with the organisations and community groups working to make a difference across Erdington and the surrounding areas.

In total, 38 organisations, community groups and Erdington Neighbourhood Network Scheme (ENNS) assets came together to share information, raise awareness of their services, and help residents discover the opportunities available on their doorstep.

We were delighted to welcome a host of organisations to the event to connect directly with residents under one roof. Stallholders included Age Connects WM, Men’s Health & Wellbeing Group, Our Place Support, Birmingham City Council, Midland Mencap, West Midlands Police, Embark learning and BMet.

Bringing so many organisations together under one roof demonstrated the value of local partnership working. It gave residents the chance to ask questions, make connections, and find out where to turn for support, while helping organisations reach people who may benefit from their services.

Alongside employment and support opportunities, the fair also included a dedicated Activity Zone, giving visitors the chance to get involved in activities designed to support their health and wellbeing in a relaxed and enjoyable way. From games, chair yoga and exercise activities to using the smoothie bikes, there was something to encourage people to get moving, try something different and have a little fun. We also offered chair based shoulder and hand massages for those in need of some pampering.

The Fun Activity Zone helped bring the wellbeing side of the event to life, showing that looking after ourselves doesn’t have to be complicated. Small activities, opportunities to move more and spending time connecting with others can all play a part in supporting our overall wellbeing. At Witton Lodge, we’re passionate about helping people access the opportunities and support they need to reach their potential.

Events like the Work & Wellbeing Fair are an important part of that commitment. By working alongside local employers, organisations and community groups, we can help connect residents with opportunities that support their employment goals, health and wellbeing.

A big thank you to Six Ways Baptist Church, all the organisations, community groups and ENNS assets who took part, as well as everyone who attended and helped make the event possible.
