Breaking Down Barriers in Erdington’s Polish Community

Since last September, a positive transformation has been taking shape across Erdington and Sutton Coldfield to help residents quit smoking.  Our Break The Habit campaign, led by Witton Lodge Community Association (WLCA), is helping smokers turn the page on smoking and embrace a healthier lifestyle.

This mission is now stepping up a gear with an exciting collaboration as WLCA teams up with People for People CIC to ensure that support reaches every corner of our local Polish community.

Supporting people

Director, Magdalena Zielinska, pictured, explains that while smoking is a challenge for the Polish community, the real barrier has often been a lack of support.

“Smoking is still normalised and a massive issue within the Polish community. However, there isn’t any support delivered in Polish, so residents don’t have much knowledge of what help is available to them.

“I am very happy to partner with Witton Lodge to present this opportunity to the Polish community.”

Steve Sharma, Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator at WLCA,  said: “We want the support we deliver to be easily accessible for everyone.

“This collaboration isn’t just about sharing information, it’s about building a community where everyone, regardless of their background, has the tools to live heathier, happier lives.”
