Fuel Poverty Awareness Day: Supporting Birmingham Together

November 25, 2025
 /

Today marks Fuel Poverty Awareness Day, an important moment to shine a vital light on the reality facing many of our residents in Birmingham. With Birmingham city having the second highest fuel poverty rate in England, nearly a quarter of the city’s households are struggling to keep warm, far above the national average. The challenge felt this winter is very real, but we’re proud to provide support for Birmingham residents when it’s needed most.

At Witton Lodge Community Association, we see every day how rising energy costs impact health and wellbeing. That’s why, alongside fantastic local partners through the Birmingham Community Action Network (B:CAN), we’re here to help residents across Birmingham access free, confidential advice and receive practical support to stay warm safely and affordably.

Our dedicated energy advisors provide personalised guidance and benefit checks, along with practical resources like Winter Warm Packs and home visits. Since 2023, we’ve helped more than 2,000 local residents, supporting households to save over £300 by offering advice on managing energy bills, reducing debt, and finding the right support to stay warm and safe.

Join us for friendly drop-in sessions at our hubs or connect at one of our welcoming Energy Cafes at Witton Lakes Eco Hub. These community spaces offer warmth, advice, and a chat over a hot drink. No one should face cold or financial worries alone, just give our friendly team a call on 0121 827 6295 or pop along to find out more.

Together, we want to  ensure everyone in our community has the support they need to keep safe and well this winter.
