On Friday 31st October, the Witton Lakes Eco Hub was transformed into a frightfully fun Halloween haven as local residents came together for our annual spooktacular celebration.

Nearly 300 residents, complete with ghouls, witches, and little vampires, joined in the fun, braving the Tunnel of Terror, taking on a spooky scavenger hunt through the haunted orchard, and enjoying traditional favourites like apple bobbing and face painting. There were also plenty of creative activities, with Mrs Demon and her mad scientist leading some wonderfully wicked arts and crafts!

The free community event was made possible thanks to the support of the National Lottery Community Fund, the Friends of Witton Lakes (FOWL), and organisations including Tesco, who kindly provided all the tasty sweets, and Bangers and Mash, who catered the event.

It was a fantastic evening filled with laughter, community spirit, and lots of smiling faces – a true celebration of Erdington at its best.

Paul Tse, Flourishing Communities Development Co-ordinator, reflected on the spooktacular evening ‘“It was fantastic to see so many local families coming together and having fun. Events like this really show the strength of our community, everyone getting involved, laughing, and making memories.

“We’re so grateful to all our volunteers, partners, and supporters who helped make the evening possible. The smiles and laughter throughout the Hub were a wonderful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together.”

“It is really surprising in the best and scariest way, the tunnels got progressively scarier. It was amazing! The food was great and we had a warm welcome”
