Break the Habit: Witton Lodge Launches New Campaign to Help Residents Quit Smoking
Calling all smokers in Erdington and Sutton Coldfield! You can now access a fantastic free stop smoking service from Witton
Lodge Community Association (WLCA) to help quit for good.
Did you know that smoking doesn’t just harm your health – it can also affect your relationships, your finances, and even your social life?
This is why WLCA is proud to announce the launch of Break the Habit – a stop smoking programme that can help send your nicotine cravings up in smoke! The project was recently launched and runs until the end of March 2026.
Smokers can register to join the programme at anytime and will be supported for a period of up to six-weeks. They can choose their own quit date and will be guided to successfully achieve it through the programme’s bespoke health and lifestyle options.
Effective Support
Launched in conjunction with Public Health Birmingham, and Birmingham City Council, the programme looks at the participants’ current situation in order to set achievable goals to help them quit.
Afzal Hussain, Chief Officer at WLCA, said: “At Witton Lodge Community Association, we are dedicated to making a real difference in the health and wellbeing of our communities.
“Our new Break the Habit programme offers free, effective support to help residents across Erdington and Sutton Coldfield quit smoking. Given that smoking rates in these areas are higher than the national average, this campaign is vital in reducing the risk of serious health problems such as respiratory illnesses, heart disease, and cancer among local residents.”
Health and Wellbeing Officer at Witton Lodge, Delyth Casey, will be facilitating the journey for Break the Habit participants. “We welcome all smokers living in Erdington and Sutton Coldfield to register for this free programme and start their journey towards a healthier lifestyle. Our friendly team are on hand to help you stop smoking and offer support which considers their own unique circumstances, needs and abilities.”
