More than 100 people attended a Jobs Fair at St Barnabas Church to speak to local employers about their latest vacancies and training opportunities.

Thursday’s event, organised and delivered by the Witton Lodge Community Association (WLCA) Employment and Skills team, gave Erdington jobseekers the chance to engage with dozens of  employers.

It was the second in a series of three jobs fairs arranged for 2025 with the final one due to take place in October.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Employment and Enterprise Advisor, Marcia Lewis, said the event was offering roles across a range of sectors including office, retail, warehouse, and construction.

The Jobs Fairs delivered by Witton Lodge are a chance for people to explore career pathways and professional development opportunities,” she said.

“We are very grateful to all the organisations who attended the event and took the time to engage with jobseekers. This approach gives people the chance to open their own dialogue with employers and get the information they need to help shape their own personal job and career aspirations.

“We had 16 Stakeholders attending including Birmingham City Council, the NHS and Kier. We will continue to support North Birmingham residents back into work.”

Local resident Lorraine Roberts, was among those looking for a fresh start.

‘I was shocked by the variety of organisations at the jobs fair, ” she said. “I would certainly recommend events like this for anyone looking for a new job as it opens your eyes to new opportunities. It’s really good to see what is out there.”
Meanwhile, Paige Reilly from skills and employment specialist Serco, engaged with a range of jobseekers.
“I spoke to a lot of people who expressed an interested in coming onto one of our data bootcamps,” she said.
“This kind of jobs fair is a great opportunity to connect with local people with local employers and training providers, to advertise what it is we can all offer.”
