Take a Walk and Feel Good
The start of a New Year is often when people resolve to put their health first – and what could be more healthy than a nice, brisk walk.
Linda Hackett has been the steering wheel of Perry Common Walking Group for 20 years and knows better than most the benefits of regularly stepping out.
“The health benefits of regular walking are fantastic,” she said.
“Walking can boost both your physical and mental health and improve your wellbeing, giving you the energy and confidence to try new things and do those things you may have let go of.”
The group was established to help people meet like-minded individuals and form friendships. It is going from strength-to-strength.
“We walk approximately 4.2-miles every Monday which is the equivalent of 10,000 steps around Witton Lakes and Brookvale Park,” added Linda.
“The group is made up of men and women of all ages and from all backgrounds, Anyone can join and all are welcome.”
The walking group meets at 11am every Monday at Perry Common Community Hall. If you would like to join them please call 0121 382 1930.
