Witton Lodge Community Interest Company (WLCIC) was established in 2017 as a subsidiary of Witton Lodge Community Association to progress housing and community asset development aspirations.
Witton Lodge Community Association is a charity with a long and proud track record of housing and capital asset development and management across North Birmingham. WLCIC pursues a dedicated housing agenda, namely, to provide affordable and social housing which meets the needs of the local community.
There are currently over 12,000 applicants Birmingham City Council’s housing waiting list – the local authority area ithin which we deliver our services. In addition there are more 3,000 empty properties in the city.
WLCIC targets such empty properties to bring them back into use while working with the City Council and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for new build development which can provide affordable housing solutions.
The objectives of Witton Lodge CIC are:
- To increase the amount of accommodation for people in the area
- To help the community to influence the landscape of the local environment
- To tackle the root causes of poverty in a very deprived neighbourhood of Birmingham
- To provide community support services and offer holistic assistance
The Witton Lodge CIC Board currently has six members with a vast range of skills and experiences which will ensure the objectives are met.
Paul Tomlinson – Chair of Board
Paul has a strong background in commercial property and business lending having worked for an established building society for over 25 years. He has also served on the WLCA Board for many years and negotiated finance/funding agreements for Housing and Capital projects.
Linda Hines MBE
Linda has a vast amount of experience in Community-led Housing and Neighbourhood Management. Linda is also a longstanding Chair and Trustee of the WLCA. Alongside the many Board positions that Linda has held over recent years, she is currently Vice Chair of West Midlands Urban Community Homes, a regional Housing Enabler Hub for the region.
Jagwant has held a number for Senior / Executive Management positions for Birmingham City Council with responsibility for large teams and budgets. He also has extensive experience in community regeneration.
John has extensive experience of working nationally with the third sector. He also has legal experience gained as a Regeneration Consultant with Anthony Collins Solicitors.
Steven is currently employed as a Client Relations Executive within the Commercial team for an established Sports Association. Steve has experience of marketing and communications coupled with strong experience of working with local communities.
Jennifer has significant experience in Finance and Accountancy from her time as a qualified accountant working for a range of government departments (in Jamaica). She also supports her local church group with a range of services.
