Pupils Excel With Charity Fundraiser
Generous locals tucking into a special coffee morning at Perry Common Library have raised more than £150 for a national charity campaign.
Friday’s event was organised by pupils from Wilson Stuart School and supported by staff and volunteers from Witton Lodge Community Association.
Sales of coffee and cake raised £164.72 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Robert Netherway, Flourishing Community Services Manager at Witton Lodge, said public support for the event was inspiring.
“On behalf of Wilson Stuart School, I’d like to thank everyone who attended the Macmillan Coffee Morning and helped raise such a fabulous amount for the charity,” he said.
“It was lovely to see so many people come out and support the pupils, who deserve great credit for all their hard work in co-ordinating the event.
“The overall purpose of the coffee morning was to provide a work experience placement for the students. Organising the event helped them gain a range of skills such as planning, customer service and handling money for instance – they did exceptionally well at all of these things.”
