Congratulations to our very own Debbie Bates who has been named a Covid Community Hero for her work supporting people in her hometown.

Debbie, Health and Wellbeing Development Manager at Witton Lodge, received the award from Tamworth Round Table in recognition of her work as lead co-ordinator with Kingsbury Good Neighbours.

Alongside two other residents, Debbie launched the group at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic to support people – especially the elderly and vulnerable who were isolating – by collecting their shopping and medicines and making regular telephone calls to check on their welfare.

Kingsbury Good Neighbours has also established its own quarterly newsletter to keep residents informed and engaged, provided Christmas gifts for vulnerable children and adults, cooked and delivered festive dinners for local people and donated Christmas hampers to families.

Debbie also successfully applied for funding from North Warwickshire Borough Council to purchase new Chrome Books to give to families who needed them to carry out home learning.
