Witton Lakes Eco Hub: Updates and What’s Next

Over the Summer, lots has happened to move the development of the Eco Hub forward. Here are the latest updates:

  • The surveys for the site have been completed, which included: ecology, topographical, ground investigation, drains, and building surveys.
  • The plans for the new building and the refurbishment of the cottage have been developed – There are some examples of the most recent imagery below, and you can view more at our display at the Orchard Tea Room.
  • A preliminary report for Hydro Power has been completed – We are keeping our fingers crossed that the Lakes can generate enough power to support the running of the Eco Hub!
  • Community consultations on activities at the Eco Hub have commenced

See below for some of the latest images and architects impressions of the Eco Hub!

So far, we have gathered some fantastic insights and ideas into what the community would like to see happening at the new Eco Hub – and we would love to hear from you!

Would you come to the Eco Hub to learn about… Maintaining a bike? Growing your own food? Reducing food waste? Keeping chickens?

Would you be interested in using the Eco Hub as a space where you can… Get advice on saving money on fuel bills? Bring goods for recycling? Take part in health and wellbeing activities?

Does this sound like something you would be interested in? Do you have other ideas? Have you got a name suggestion for the Eco Hub?

Please get in touch with Stuart by emailing Stuart.Adams@wittonlodge.org.uk or come down to the Orchard Tea Rooms on Mondays between 12-4pm or Fridays between 9am-12pm

We would love to hear from you!
