Over £200 Raised At Keep The Beat Going
There was certainly lots of great activity to warm the heart on Friday 11th November at Keep The Beat Going – raising over £200 for the British Heart Foundation.
To brighten up a dark November day, Perry Common Community Hall was decorated and filled with guests ready to make this an afternoon to remember – whilst at the same time, raising money for a good cause.
The theme for the event was ‘naughty’ and ‘nice’, with lots of naughty tea and cakes and a fantastic Bake-Off to tempt everyone in. And then there were ‘nice’ activities that are good for the heart – with a beautiful selection of fruits from around the world and a raffle, 11 very happy people, walking away with prizes.
Our three judges, Margaret, John and Paul had a great time sampling the fantastic selection of cakes lovingly home-made for the Bake Off. There was something to tempt everyone’s taste-buds, with fruit rock cakes, apple and blackberry pie, cookies, almond tarts, a round sweet lemon cake and lemon drizzle cake
Congratulations to Pam Wood, from the Ring Of Sound Choir, Perry Common’s very own community choir, who won the Bake Off, being crowned the Best Baker In Perry Common, for her beautiful Musical Cake. Inspired by her choir singing, this lovely carrot cake was decorated with musical features and really caught the eye and taste of the judges.
The event was organised by WLCA volunteer Margaret, who has worked non-stop for weeks, getting the support of local supermarkets, promoting the event and making sure that everyone had a great time on the day.
We’re just thinking about what to do next!
